CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS

The National Gallery required the development of an interactive application that allowed visitors to securely make donations while engaging creatively with the Gallery’s artwork. The application needed to enable users to capture a photograph, which would then be algorithmically merged with a Gallery painting and displayed on screen as part of a dynamic mosaic.

In addition, the solution included an email feature, allowing visitors to send their personalised image directly to their inbox. The overall objective was to deliver a seamless, user-friendly experience that combined secure payment processing with an immersive and memorable interaction with the Gallery’s collection.

PROMULTIS SOLUTION

Promultis delivered a tailored interactive solution for The National Gallery, supplying an 86″ Lightning Screen and a 55″ Totem Focus with integrated POS terminal. An interactive presentation was developed for the Totem using graphic assets provided by the Deadgood Agency.

The first stage of the application enabled secure donations via a Worldpay-integrated payment process, allowing visitors to select from three donation amounts, pay by card, and receive a printed receipt if required. The second stage invited visitors to use the Totem’s built-in webcam to capture a series of photographs, select their preferred image, and send it to the Lightning Screen.

Custom mosaic software then merged the selected photograph into a Gallery painting, animating it smoothly into place within a growing mosaic display. Visitors could watch their image scale and integrate seamlessly with the artwork before choosing to have the final personalised image sent directly to their email, creating a memorable and engaging donation experience.
